Best Soundtrack
New York, NY — May 16, 2005 — In a night that was highlighted by a Suicide Girls fashion show, free cigarettes and booze, and what was described by one attendee as "the best tacos ever", Neo-Pangea was awarded the "Best Soundtrack" award by Sony Music recording artist Nellie McKay.
"The Groceries" awards ceremony is "the rock-fueled, no-frills spectacle" that marks the finale of the Arlene's Grocery Picture Show. Carrots, peas, corn, and other canned items that have been mounted to wood bases are given out as trophies to the top festival prize winners.
Luminaries such as Ben Gazzara, Peter Bogdanovich, Ron Palillo (TVs Horschack), and Rudy Ray Moore (blaxploitation star Dolemite) were on hand to witness Neo-Pangea proudly walk away with a 1lb 13oz can of Premium Frijoles Negros (Black Beans).
"It's a great feeling to be recognized for our soundtrack. More people ask me 'when can I buy the soundtrack' than they ask 'when can I buy the movie'," explained Director Brett Bagenstose. "Most of the credit for this award goes to John. He was responsible for going through over a thousand CDs to find the perfect songs."
