Discovering King Tut's Tomb

Fig 1744a. Imagine Exhibitions

Format: Immersive Exhibit c.2023

Follow in the footsteps of Howard Carter in this immersive exhibit that takes you through the legendary discovery of King Tut’s  tomb.

A century ago, Howard Carter made one of the greatest archeological discoveries of all time when he uncovered the lost tomb of Tutankhamun. To commemorate the occasion, we teamed up with Imagine Exhibitions to hand craft a media-rich exhibit in the most suitable venue you could think of… The pyramid-shaped Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. We guided the visitor through a narrative that unfolded in each room. To give context to the replicas on display and deeper context to the story, we produced animated media moments that invited guests to learn more about Howard’s discovery, the tomb’s different rooms and dazzling treasures, the art of mummification, the Boy King, and ancient Egypt.

To make the visitors feel like they were transported back in time, we crafted an audio tour with Howard Carter himself leading the way (ok not really — it’s an actor) based on his journal entries and letters. To evoke the spirit of each room, we provided soundscapes and cinematic scoring. As you look upon famous treasures, the music arouses a sense of grandeur and romanticism. Entering the tomb invokes foreboding and mystery. The chinks of pickaxes highlight the hallway Howard’s team dug out and a few steps further, the rush of water takes you down the Nile. Through storytelling and exciting the senses, we helped Imagine Exhibitions educate, build atmosphere and bring this incredible exhibit to life.
